  • Bases Bonanza! JA Solar's Dual Triumph with SSI Certification Sparks Sustainable Development Frenzy. Mar 25, 2025
Recently, JA Solar has hit another "milestone" in sustainable development! Its Fengxian and Yangzhou manufacturing bases aced the Solar Sustainability Initiative (SSI) audit and snagged the "Silver Medal" certification. This top - tier SSI accolade in the PV world shows JA Solar's ESG efforts are now a global industry benchmark.     Unlike other certification bodies, the Solar Sustainability Initiative (SSI) is the first initiative organization that focuses on the sustainability and traceability of the supply chain in the photovoltaic industry. This organization was jointly launched by SolarPower Europe and Solar Energy UK. Its aim is to unite manufacturers, developers, installers, and purchasers within the global photovoltaic value chain to jointly promote the responsible production, procurement, and management of photovoltaic materials, and it has a huge influence.     Thanks to the authoritative background of the Solar Sustainability Initiative (SSI), most of the key developers and suppliers in the global photovoltaic industry have joined the organization. The project scales held by member enterprises and the output of related photovoltaic products account for a crucial share in the global market. Among them, all SSI member enterprises from the manufacturing sector must complete a strict on-site assessment by a compliant independent assessment body (AB) approved by SSI within 12 months. As of now, there are only 7 eligible assessment bodies.     Right from the start of the Solar Sustainability Initiative (SSI), JA Solar was knee - deep in shaping its sustainable standards. Manufacturing bases in Baotou, Ningjin, Yiwu and other locations served as SSI's first - round sustainable capacity research pilots. They provided invaluable examples for putting those standards into practice. Then, in October 2024, JA Solar's Baotou base took the lead again as the audit pilot for SSI's brand - new standards.     The SSI "Silver Medal" certification JA Solar just received is clear proof that the company has turned its standard - building know - how into real - world management wins. In recent years, JA Solar's headquarters and base departments joined forces. They overhauled a ton of systems, processes, and documents. This included biodiversity policies, carbon emission strategies, compliance risk management, life - cycle circularity plans, EHS targets, and control procedures. By constantly ramping up their sustainability efforts, JA Solar aced the SSI on - site audit with flying colors.     This SSI certification is a huge milestone for JA Solar, but it's just the beginning. Looking ahead, JA Solar is set on getting more of its manufacturing bases SSI - certified. The company also aims to blend sustainable development even deeper into its business operations. What's more, JA Solar will be right there, helping partners build their sustainable capabilities. With JA Solar at the helm, the global PV value chain is on track to create a far more responsible and resilient ecosystem.
