"Photovoltaic + Agriculture" - Solar Pumping Stations Put to Use in Agriculture in Panzhihua City

To accelerate the implementation of the requirements of the Sichuan Provincial Committee and the provincial government regarding supporting Panzhihua's high-quality development and building a common prosperity pilot zone, the Land Group of Sichuan Natural Investment Group has been actively developing smart agriculture and strengthening the support of agricultural science and technology and equipment. Recently, water pumped by solar pumping stations in Pingdi Town, Renhe District and Hongge Town, Yanchi County of Panzhihua City has been flowing slowly through pipelines into fields, marking the successful water pumping of the solar-powered water-lifting stations built by the Land Group.

It is learned that the solar pumping station project is a supporting project for the land improvement projects of Pingdi Town and Hongge Town in 2023. It is the first photovoltaic energy-saving and environmentally friendly water-lifting station in both towns. Both started construction in April and were completed in May this year. The water-lifting stations use photovoltaic power generation for water pumping, with a designed flow rate of 100 cubic meters per hour for each station and a total installed photovoltaic capacity of approximately 1.2 megawatts. The project includes the construction of four pumping stations, four photovoltaic base stations, and a 15,000-meter water supply pipeline, which can meet the irrigation water needs of Pingdi Village, Bailagou Village, Lazi Shao Village, and Jinsha Village in the two towns. 

The construction of the photovoltaic pumping station has changed the previous situation of high irrigation costs in the local area. Previously, the irrigation water for the residents of the involved villages and communities mainly came from diesel generator pumping stations, with high water usage costs. Now, solar energy is converted into electricity through solar photovoltaic arrays to power the water pump units, which pump water to the irrigation areas to irrigate crops, saving costs for farmers. It is estimated that this can save each farmer 800 to 1,500 yuan per mu of water usage costs annually, achieving efficient utilization of water resources and increasing economic income.

Currently, with the basic completion of the land improvement projects in Pingdi Town and Hongge Town in 2023, this solar pumping station project has covered the irrigation water needs of over 800 mu of paddy fields and over 1,400 mu of dry land in Pingdi Town, solving the agricultural irrigation water problems for villagers to the greatest extent. A total of over 600 households have benefited from it, achieving good ecological, economic and social benefits.
